1. Main Menu

After installing DartManager u can start DartManager from the Programs group. Go to Start -> Programs -> DartManager -> DartManager, de next windows will be shown.

The main menu consists of the following items: <Tournament>,<Scheme> and <Info>.

The pull down menu of menu <Tournament> consists of the following sub-items: <New>,<Open>,<Save As>,<Settings>,<Participants>,<Draw>,<Start> and <Exit>.

<New>: Start new tournament, when starting DartManager you don’t need to use this button. This button should only be used when you want to start a new tournament after finishing one or when you want to start al over again during a tournament. Please note that al unsaved data will be gone.

<Open>: Open a previously saved tournament to finish it.

<Save As>: Save a tournament, all data from the tournament will be saved so it is possible to finish the tournament another time.

<Settings>: This button will open a screen to configure different kinds of tournament settings. These settings need to be checked and configured before the start of each tournament.

2. Settings

The first thing u should do after starting DartManager is configure the tournament parameters. From the main menu choose <Tournament> -> <Settings>. The following windows will be shown.

The following parameters can be configured:

<Bonus point(s) for participating>: Points a player gets when he (or she) registers to participate. (Often used in ranking tournaments to stimulate a next participation).

<Who is the scorekeeper ?>: DartManager will remember who has to be scorekeeper of the next game on a dart-lane. You can choose between the winner, the loser or volunteers. Usually the loser is the scorekeeper of the next game.

<Available dart-lanes>: With DartManager you place a game on a dart-lane and the computer remembers who is writing the game. The maximum amount of dart-lanes is 12.  Each dart-lane can be set to be available or blocked. During the tournament this can be changed.

<Game with a bye>: This parameter is associated with the way points are awarded to people who have a bye. There are several ways how this is handled in the dart sport.

<Point(s) a game, winner or losers round>: Points awarded to the player who wins a game in the winners or losers round.

<Best Of>: Maximum amount of legs played in the different stages of the tournament.

<Save Settings>: The current parameters are saved. The next time DartManager is started these parameters will be loaded as default.

3. Participants

When the tournament parameters are set the participant can be entered.

From the main menu choose <Tournament> -> <Participants>

Menu <Participants> opens a window where you can add people who participate at the tournament.
All names are saved so you will not have to enter them again on a next tournament.

Once entered you can select them form the left column and move it to the right column.
the right column contains the actual people who will participate at the tournament.

The window <Participants> contains the following buttons:

<Add>: Transfers a person from the left column (dart players) to the right column (participants)

<Remove>: Transfers a person from the right column (participants) to the left column (dart players)

<Import text file>: This button will show a dialog to open a text file with the names of a bunch of people that you want to add to the tournament in one single step. The format of the text file is very simple, separate lines with names. A name must not exceed 20 characters. (use notepad to make such a file)

<Delete name>: Selected name will be deleted.

<Modify name>: Opens a windows to modify the selected name.

<Add new participant>: Opens a dialog to enter a new participant. The name of this person will be added to the right column of participants.

When al participants are entered and placed in the right column press <OK>.

Remark:

With the free evaluation version you can enter only 16 participants, with a registered version you can enter 128 participants.

The free evaluation version can be used as often as u like and all features are available also printing game tickets, the only restriction is the amount of participants.

Of you want register you to purchase a license code. Please send an e-mail to registration@dartsoftware.nl and al the instructions will be send to you. It is also possible to pay with PayPal, please visit www.dartsoftware.nl en click on the PayPal button.

4. Draw

When al participants are entered the next will be to perform a draw. From the main menu choose <Tournament> -> <Draw>

With the button <Execute draw> the computer will perform the draw. The computer automatically takes care of the necessary bye positions.

When the draw is executed, press <OK> to go back to the main menu.

5. Start Tournament

When the draw is executed the tournament can be started. From the main menu choose <Tournament> -> <Start>. A window will be shown with a knock out scheme of the winners round.

In the top area of the windows some buttons are available.

<Mainmenu> : Go back to the main menu. (for instance, to save the current position of the tournament or take a look at the table of points ).

<Losers-round >: Display’s the scheme of the losers round.

<Dart-lanes> : Display’s the occupation of the available dart lanes.

<Add player> : With this button a late player can be added to the tournament after the draw is executed. This can only be done when there are bye positions. The computer will place this person on a random chosen bye position.

When you want to start a game just double click on one of the games. In this example we choose the first available game from the scheme.

A window is shown and in the game field you see the names of both players.

Below the game field the available dart-lanes are shown. Move the mouse and click on one of the (free) dart lanes and press <OK>.

A message window is shown with all the information for that specific game, round, lane, best of and the scorekeeper. The message windows can be used to call out the game.

With the button <Print game ticket> a game ticket can be printed. The layout of the game ticket is shown below. For printing tickets normal A4 paper can be used that is cut in half. (29,7cm x 10,5cm )

The ticket shown is just an example.

Please wait till the game ticket is completely printed, when something goes wrong with the printer you can always press <Print game ticket> again. When the ticket is printed correctly press <OK> to close the message window. Keep in mind that not al printers print at the same speed, printing a ticket will last 10 to 30 seconds.

After pressing <OK> the game we just started will get a green colour in the scheme. This means the game is busy.

Games in the scheme can have the following colours:

White:  Game not played yet

Green: Game is busy

Gray:    Game is played and finished.

When a game is finished the game ticket has to be returned. Double click on the specific game to enter the results.

A window is shown and the result of the game can be entered. Also 180’s and 100+ finishes can be entered here. All the data entered can later be exported to excel.

In the winner-round the winner of the game is automatically send to the next round and the loser is send to the losers round or is eliminated depending on the stage of the tournament.

The loser of the game (or winner, depending on the tournament settings) is remembered by the software to be scorekeeper of the next game on the lane he just played.
When the next game is started we see Darryl Fitton as potential scorekeeper for lane 1.

When we choose to use lane 1 we see in the message that “Darryl Fitton” has to be the scorekeeper.

Volunteer scorekeepers have to be used for the first games on a dartlane after that the winners or losers are going to be scorekeepers (depending on the tournament settings), de computer will manage everything, nothing has to be written down on paper.

Game results can be altered afterwards only if the players of that specific game you want to alter are not already playing the next game. Just double click on a finished game and the computer will tell you if it is possible to alter the result. 180’s and 100+ finishes can always be changed.

This way the entire tournament is completed, for the winners-round and for the losers-round.

The best moment to start with the losers-round is when all the people who have a bye game have played there first game.

6. Table of points

When the tournament is completely finished a total view of the awarded point can be shown.
The position of each player will be displayed including the amount of 180’s and 100+ finishes.
The numbers 1,2,3 and 4 are displayed separately. Also de person(s) with the highest finish is shown. Al the data can be exported to an excel file so it can be used with or in another program.

From the main menu go to <Scheme> -> <Table of points> to show this overview.
